2008 Visa Championships (Women)
Description
On June 5 & 7, 2008, the city of Boston and the Agganis Arena at Boston University hosted the Women’s USA Gymnastics 2008 Visa Championships. The 2008 Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics' national championships, featured the country's best women gymnasts all vying for national titles and spots on the U.S. Women's National Team. Over 13,000 gymnastics fans filled the arena over the weekend the gymnasts compete for the National Championship. In the end it was Shawn Johnson taking home the Gold medal.
Outside the excitement in the Agganis Arena, the city was filled with women’s gymnastics fans. The estimated $1.4 million economic impact was seen throughout the city as tours, shops, restaurants and historical sites.
