Over the past several months, MSP has worked to create a website dedicated to promoting Massachusetts as a destination for sporting events and meetings and highlight upcoming events in the Commonwealth. The website is designed to be a resource and offer information on the Massachusetts sports community, from our venues to upcoming events to our Regional Tourism Council partners.
2008 US Olympic Team Trials – Women’s MarathonOn April 20, 2008, the best U.S. women marathoners will descend on Boston for the 2008 US Olympic Team Trials – Women’s Marathon. Administered by the Boston Athletic Association, the Trials will take place on a course in Cambridge and Boston. The Women’s Marathon Trials will select the US Olympic Team members for this summer’s 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing China.
March NCAA Events
March proved to be a busy month for NCAA Championship events in Massachusetts.
From March 26-29, the MassMutual Center in Springfield hosted the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight Championships. This year marked the 3rd consecutive year in which the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and AIC have hosted the Championships.
The NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Regional Championships returned to the DCU Center in Worcester on March 29-30. Always one of the top NCAA Hockey Regionals sites, the 2008 return to the DCU Center did not disappoint. Hosted by Holy Cross University and the staff at the DCU Center, just under 14,000 college hockey fans watched as local favorite Boston College punched their ticket to the NCAA Division I Men’s Frozen Four in Denver Colorado.
