2006 NCAA Women’s Final Four
Description On April 2 & 4, 2006, the city of Boston and the TD Banknorth Garden hosted the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Final Four Championships. Over 18,000 basketball fans filled the arena to see Duke, North Carolina, LSU and Maryland compete for the National Championship. In the end it was Maryland taking home the title in the 25th anniversary of the event.Outside the excitement in the Garden, the city was filled with women’s basketball fans and members of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. Held in conjunction with the Final Four, the WBCA Convention posted their second highest attendance in the 25 year history of the organization. The estimated $20 million economic impact was seen throughout the city as tours, shops, restaurants and historical sites all saw record attendance for the first week in April. Venue

In the summer of 2006, The TD Banknorth Garden went through an extreme make-over. The addition of The Premium Club's SportsDeck and The Boardroom, new concessions and retail stands, a new bar on the level 4 concourse called The Hub and renovations to suites are among the many upgrades done to the building. |
